Edith Poirier is an artist from Montreal who lives and works in Milan, Italy. Her foundation began as a painter, often working with oils, but currently this painterly approach has branched out into the world of printmaking, murals, sculptures, and site specific workshops.
Edith Poirier completed her undergraduate degree with a BFA from Concordia University of Montreal in 2009. There she focused on painting and drawing before going on to complete her Masters in Fine Arts and Curatorial Studies at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) of Milan. At NABA she began to apply her technical fine art skills to community based projects with objectives of reappropriating urban spaces throughout Milan, as well as guerilla like sculpture installations. With Isola Art Center she has organized mural projects, run printmaking workshops, collaborated with visiting international artists, as well as participated in the recent exhibitions: “Utopian Pulse-Flares in the darkroom.” at the Secession, Vienna Autria; “The independent.” at MAXXI, Rome Italy; “1.1 Stop Over, Isola Art Center: Fight Specific Isola Lab” at +MSUM Museum of Contemporary Art, Metelkova- Ljubljana, Slovenia; “The Disobedience Archive (The Parliament)” at the Castello di Rivoli, Rivoli, Italy; and “Ongoing Fight Specific Isola” at S.A.L.E. Docks, Venice, Italy.
